Rapid Reservoir Modelling

A multi-university and joint-industry consortium to deliver innovative reservoir modelling technology

RRM is a multi-university and joint-industry consortium to deliver new methods for rapid, sketch-based modelling of complex geology. The project will deliver software tools that allow conceptual geological reservoir models to be rapidly created using a simple, intuitive interface that allows geologists to sketch complex 3D geological architectures. The sketches are guided by inbuilt geological rules and surface hierarchies, and can be rapidly meshed for computation of key reservoir properties. The project is being jointly undertaken by Imperial College London, the University of Calgary, Heriot-Watt University and the Federal University of Pernambuco, each of which leads a specific area of research but cooperates closely to deliver integrated solutions.
